The Crowd Dictates The Cloud…
2 Chronicles 5:13-15 (Amplified Bible)
13And when the trumpeters and singers were joined in unison, making one sound to be heard in praising and thanking the Lord, and when they lifted up their voice with the trumpets and cymbals and other instruments for song and praised the Lord, saying, For He is good, for His mercy and loving-kindness endure forever, then the house of the Lord was filled with a cloud,
14So that the priests could not stand to minister because of the cloud, for the glory of the Lord filled the house of God.
Recently, my son and I had “a thing.” He about a month ago had given me such a hard time in reference to some household chores that I had given him to do in addition to what he considered to be his normal chores. I got to a point in the discussion that I felt it was my time to be quiet and to settle my spirit and not get pulled into a battle of wits. But I knew that he would want things from me, and that to get him to understand that his attitude and his willingness to do would dictate my willingness to respond, to his request. Of course it was time for allowance and then he needed to get some things done. I did not respond in a manner he expected. I did not jump to get it done. When he would approach in reference to these things my only response was that I heard him and understood what he was asking. After a few weeks he become desperate, I could see that he understood my point, his attitude had changed and he began to take initiative to do things on his own. It was at the point of his humility, at the point of his change and identification of what needed to rectified, that dictated my desire to move.
The other night in church during a conference service that was already great, there came a point during the service where we cried out, and began calling on the name of Jesus. It was within minutes that the Glory cloud descended upon the congregation, and the spirit of the Lord was tangible and evident. It is often a frustrating situation when we perceive that we are serving God and seeking God and we are not seeing the results that we desire or are in need of, like we did that particular night. But we may lack understanding that we often dictate the move of God in our lives. We don’t see that it can be our posture, it can be our priorities, it can be our level of faith and our ability to humble ourselves and submit. For many of us we forget to set the atmosphere, for God to be present and to move. For others still it is our attitude, we have such a nasty attitude towards others, ourselves and God, why would God ever want to do anything for us? God does His part and He is more than capable of handling any situation that we have going on, but we often will get in the way of God moving. We want what we want, we need what we need, and that becomes our focus and not God. We have to learn that God has to remain the priority no matter what the situation and circumstance. His place should never be one that is compromised. If we can cry out to God and place Him above all, ensure that our posture is one of faith, trust, humility and love, it is then that we will see God moving more to do just what His Word outlines and promises.
What is your crowd dictating from the cloud? Are we pleasing God in such a way and pulling on His Glory in such a way that He has no choice but to respond? Or are we leaving room for His hand to be stayed in our life, and the fullness of His glory not to be revealed? Set the tone, the atmosphere and get in position for God to move in your life like never before. Check your attitude and your ability to humble yourself at the mighty hand of God. It may be the dictating factor of the movement of God for you!
