Words Of Encouragement To Start The Day (Monday 07/19/2010)

Give Love, to Get Love

Deuteronomy 7:7-9 (New Living Translation)
7 “The LORD did not set his heart on you and choose you because you were more numerous than other nations, for you were the smallest of all nations! 8 Rather, it was simply that the LORD loves you, and he was keeping the oath he had sworn to your ancestors. That is why the LORD rescued you with such a strong hand from your slavery and from the oppressive hand of Pharaoh, king of Egypt. 9 Understand, therefore, that the LORD your God is indeed God. He is the faithful God who keeps his covenant for a thousand generations and lavishes his unfailing love on those who love him and obey his commands.

Today's message in the music comes from The Jones Girls song, "You Gonna Make Me Love Somebody Else." The chorus of the song says: You gonna make me love somebody else
If you keep on treating me the way you do. We've all heard the saying, "You don't miss your water until your well runs dry". Throughout my life I've been one who gives and gives of myself until normally there is nothing left for me to enjoy. I'm often left feeling drained, tired, misused, misunderstood and abused. About ninety percent of the people in my life who have caused me to feel this way, God has one way or another cut them from my life.

See sometimes God will allow us to go through some things and some people in order for us to appreciate the gifts of those who will appreciate us back. However, sometimes we are left high and dry because of our actions with the Father. We have turned Christ into a wishing well, a payday loan and a thing we get to when we have time. We forget that He is the beginning, middle and end. As me and Shane have less than 90 days to plan our wedding, I find the stress of it all starting to get to me. We went from being blessed almost daily to feeling the burden of doing it on our own. God showed me it was because I began to take my focus off of Him, and put it all into the wedding. My turning from Him, caused Him to turn from me.

We like to believe that no matter how we live, who we hurt or when we choose to serve God, that He will always come through for us because we claim to be children of the King. But sometimes God says No, sometimes God takes away, and sometimes God will allow somethings to die in us, around us and for us. Everything God does is for a reason, but maybe His actions (or lack of) is a direct re-action to our choices, decisions and character. Just like there is so much we will take from others, I believe God has his limits too. His grace and mercy is more than sufficient and they are new everyday, but that doesn't mean that we will have access to them always.

Today as you prepare to begin another week, check out your heart. Are you loving the Father for what He does, what He can do, or simply for who He is? Are you giving Him your heart, mind, body, soul and will even when you don't want to? Are you taking advantage of His grace and mercy, abusing His love and forgiveness, and making Him wish He had never sent His precious and only begotten son to die for you? If so, ask God to give you a heart make-over. Let Him come in and do a work in you, so that you can have access to His heart again and always. Don't let someone else receive your portion of the Fathers inheritance that's supposed to be reserved for you!!!
