Words Of Encouragement To Start The Day (Tuesday 07/20/2010)

Yesterday’s Devotional Was Written By My Very Insightful and Inspirational Spiritual Daughter Tracy Koweh… (Sorry I forget Her headline, lol)

Moving In The Right Direction…

1 John 1:1-10 (Amplified Bible)

1[WE ARE writing] about the Word of Life [in] Him Who existed from the beginning, Whom we have heard, Whom we have seen with our [own] eyes, Whom we have gazed upon [for ourselves] and have touched with our [own] hands. 2And the Life [an aspect of His being] was revealed (made manifest, demonstrated), and we saw [as eyewitnesses] and are testifying to and declare to you the Life, the eternal Life [in Him] Who already existed with the Father and Who [actually] was made visible (was revealed) to us [His followers]. 3What we have seen and [ourselves] heard, we are also telling you, so that you too may realize and enjoy fellowship as partners and partakers with us. And [this] fellowship that we have [which is a distinguishing mark of Christians] is with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ (the Messiah). 4And we are now writing these things to you so that our joy [in seeing you included] may be full [and your joy may be complete]. 5And this is the message [the message of promise] which we have heard from Him and now are reporting to you: God is Light, and there is no darkness in Him at all [no, not in any way]. 6[So] if we say we are partakers together and enjoy fellowship with Him when we live and move and are walking about in darkness, we are [both] speaking falsely and do not live and practice the Truth [which the Gospel presents]. 7But if we [really] are living and walking in the Light, as He [Himself] is in the Light, we have [true, unbroken] fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses (removes) us from all sin and guilt [keeps us cleansed from sin in all its forms and manifestations]. 8If we say we have no sin [refusing to admit that we are sinners], we delude and lead ourselves astray, and the Truth [which the Gospel presents] is not in us [does not dwell in our hearts]. 9If we [freely] admit that we have sinned and confess our sins, He is faithful and just (true to His own nature and promises) and will forgive our sins [dismiss our lawlessness] and [continuously] cleanse us from all unrighteousness [everything not in conformity to His will in purpose, thought, and action]. 10If we say (claim) we have not sinned, we contradict His Word and make Him out to be false and a liar, and His Word is not in us [the divine message of the Gospel is not in our hearts].

Many of you know that my brother was in the hospital for a little over a month. During this time he found out some things about his overall health that made him, have to step up his game. Although he has always walked and worked out, and He was pretty conscious of what he placed in His mouth, he did not oversee his habits and tend to himself with such vigilance as he does now. He is on it! He walks daily and as soon as the doctor gives the okay he will be back doing some resistance training. He reads labels, counts carbs and calories and is a beast when it comes to his dieting. It has made us all look at where we are and step up our game as well. We all had to get off auto pilot and get moving in the right direction.

All too often we get on auto pilot with our lives and our pursuit of God. We figure what we learned as a child will carry us where God wants us to be. We figure what we learned fifteen, twenty years ago is still applicable for today, little did we know that God was moving and we are left in our regiment of insanity doing things the same way, and sometimes even in expectation of some different results, whew, what are we thinking?... We are thinking that God thinks like us, acts like us and is us, human, limited and the sedentary in our pursuits. We figure the bare minimum will do, if we say the right thing or remember the right thing, or listen to the right words and speakers we will be just fine…We think that doctrine, religion, words and proclamations will secure us a place in God’s kingdom. We think if we do enough good or say enough Hail Mary’s that all will be right with our souls. We are missing the movement and we don’t even know it. God is the same yesterday, today and forever more, meaning that His truth, His word and His promises stand, but God is moving, He is ever present and He is all places at one time. Just as He moves we need to see the need to move with Him. To recognize when our season is changing and when God is moving, and when He is trying to get us to see it is time to move. Just as the Children of Israel, could not do business as usual when they were heading towards the promise land, neither can we. When the Cloud (the Glory of the Lord), moved so did they. They recognized that God was moving and directing them from within the cloud and that they needed to follow, or get left to elements unknown.

It is time to get us together, get us in the right shape and moving in the right direction. That direction is moving with God. We need to be pursuing God, and the truth of who He is. Knowing Him by the spirit and being able to have His spirit bare witness with ours. Ordinary just won’t do, business as usual just won’t cut it. The same song, on the same day sung in the same way just isn’t enough. Times are changes and God is moving will you move with Him are you standing on what you think you have always known?
