Words Of Encouragement To Start The Day (Monday 01/10/2011)

Today’s Devotional Written By One Who Is Telling It Like It Is: Mrs. Tracy A. Dixon
D.A.D.T. - - Repealed

Romans 10:9-13 (New International Version, ©2010)

9 If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved. 11 As Scripture says, “Anyone who believes in him will never be put to shame.”[a] 12 For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile—the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, 13 for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”

Today’s message in the music comes from R. Kelly's song "Down Low". The second verse says: “Secret lovers is what you wanna be, While making love to him girl you're silently calling on me.”  For anyone keeping up with current affairs, you know that recently Congress passed the law to repeal the military's policy of "Don't Ask, Don't Tell". The policy simply meant if you were in the military and a homosexual, then keep it on the down low.

As I watched the different reactions on television, social sites and people around me, it hit me that the body of church needs to repeal D.A.D.T., because there are so many Christians living on the down low. Some are going to mega churches, not for a good word, but a great hideout spot. Some "Christians" only know Jesus when they are around Christians who have come out of the closet. Others only know Jesus when the rent is due, the night before the big interview or test, or when illness hits their body.

Like in the song some of us are making love to sin, the enemy, our will, our way, our wants, and our desires, but we want to silently call on God when all hell breaks loose. Some of us are meeting God in our secret closets, not to get closer to Him, but so we won't be seen by others. There are some of us that if we said we were Christians, witnesses to our lifestyle would laugh.

Today ask yourself if your actions are speaking for you. Can others observe you and know beyond a shadow of a doubt that you’re saved? If you went to Heaven today, would God need to ask you, or would your track record tell Him you've been a good and faithful servant? And lastly are you living in such a matter that God is closing His eyes, crossing His fingers and hoping that no one asks you and that you don't tell anyone, you're a child of God. Let’s get our walk in line with the Father, or walk on over to the other side. Living on the down low not only strips you of receiving all of God's blessings in store for you, but it ruins the perception of unbelievers when you get caught!!
