Are You A Person Of Distinction?
Exodus 8:22-23 (New Living Translation)
22 But this time I will spare the region of Goshen, where my people live. No flies will be found there. Then you will know that I am the Lord and that I am present even in the heart of your land. 23 I will make a clear distinction between my people and your people. This miraculous sign will happen tomorrow.’”
I was blessed to grow up in a multigenerational household. There was definitely a mark and distinct difference between our household and many of my other friends that did not have these dynamics in their house. I also grew up with a mother who believed in taking people in and sheltering them, helping them, and ministering to them, in their time of need. I would have to say I grew up in a hold household that had marks of uniqueness and distinction that set up apart from other homes. I use to wonder why we lived the way we did but as I matured I wondered why more people did not live as we did. This was not a mark of shame, but a badge of honor and it was something many of my friends migrated to.
As I remember my grandma James and whenever I think of my mom, I think of the blessing that these two women have bestowed upon my life. They were and are remarkable woman of God who you can plainly see God’s hand on their lives, His power and anointing imparted to them. But this is not something I have identified in all Christians, in all people of God and in all of us who claim salvation. My mentor in Okinawa Japan use to say, “God has a remnant within the remnant.” I believe this to be truth. I believe that God will distinguish, those who are His, but He will also place a special mark of distinction even among His own, upon those who garner His favor and His undivided attention. Those that can get a prayer through, those that have lived the scripture that says “I have never seen the righteous forsaken nor His seed begging bread” (Psalms 37:24). Just as when God was dealing with the Egyptians and the Children of Israel He did not allow the plagues that affected Egypt to affect Israel, why because He was sending a message, He was proving a point, He was making a statement and He was ensuring that His intent was understood. Even now, in this time God is doing the same, He has placed His hand on His people, but in some cases He has not just placed His hand on people, but His anointing, His very presence and His favor. But this not just something we get, it comes with a price and with a cost. It comes to those who have decided to live a life of total surrender; people that have laid down their agenda to pick up God’s. People who are determined to do the will of God no matter what; people who will not live a life that hides who they are and whom they belong to.
Are you a person of distinction? Has God placed you in a place of honor? Has God singled you out to make you an example of His glory? Has He breathed into your life in such a way that it is unmistakable that God favors you? If not it may be because you have not given all to Jesus yet. My desire is to have God’s mark upon me, to honor and glorify His name in such a way that He will single me out and place a mark upon me that not just identifies me as His own, but one, who is chosen. How about you?
