Words Of Encouragement To Start The Day (Friday 01/07/2011)

An Endangered Species…

Deuteronomy 14:2 (Amplified Bible)
2For you are a holy people [set apart] to the Lord your God; and the Lord has chosen you to be a peculiar people to Himself, above all the nations on the earth.

Today my mother was sharing a particular incidence with me that happened, it had grieved her spirit in such a way she asked that I agree to cover her in prayer.  But the thing that struck me, and horrified me, was the fact that the offender was a Christian and had impacted two people that did not have a walk with the Lord.  In those moments my heart hurt, and I understood my mother’s discomfort and distress. In those moments I could also hear my Bishop says the words that he has uttered so many times before, “sometimes we are the only Jesus people will ever see, or know.”  I thought in those moments how sad that we do not represent Him well, that we often do not  do His name proud, and instead of lifting up the Kingdom and inspiring healing and unity, we are causing division, and hurt, pain and disease to run rampant. We as Christians are becoming endangered species, and in some cases extinct.
This year in our church one of the things we were told that God was requiring of us was to bring it, to get LOUD with who we are; not to hide that fact that we serve Christ and are saved!  The Bible in Romans 1:6, says, “For I am not ashamed of the Gospel (good news) of Christ, for it is God's power working unto salvation [for deliverance from eternal death] to everyone who believes with a personal trust and a confident surrender and firm reliance, to the Jew first and also to the Greek,”.  Why is it that we are becoming ashamed of who we claim we are?  Why is that we are becoming, the same as everyone else and no one is able to tell the difference (we are no longer set apart)?  Why are we claiming Christianity in one forum and living the life of someone that is unsaved?  We cannot serve two Master for one we will love and the other we will hate, (Matthew 6:24, Luke 16:13).  We are losing ourselves to the world systems, the pride of life, the lusts of the eye, and the lust of the flesh. We find it more important to keep up with the Jones than to establish order within our homes and within our own lives. We would rather compromise ourselves, then to discipline ourselves, we would rather be our child’s friend or run the streets, getting ours than to raise our children and to give them the roots they need to make the right decisions when faced with temptation.  We would rather bring the drama, the noise and the foul language and attitude, then to tame that unruly member and to allow God to really deal with our heart.  We would rather go along with the crowd than to stand alone, for God’s sake and the call of salvation.
Where are all my Christians at?  It is time to stand up and be counted, to come out from among them and be separate (2Corinthians 6:17-18).  It is time to stop doing it our way and to yield to doing it God’s way.  We need to come out of hiding, and come out of the grave, to be resurrected in order to be the example and the one who does God’s bidding here in the earth.  The One who rises up strong and is loud enough to be heard over the deafening screams of the world’s systems, pride, lust, and the sinful nature that we were born into. It is time for us to take our rightful place as God’s chosen people, the one that is in the world and not of it. We should be a people that are determined to cry loud and spare not.  A people that is determined to set the tone and the pace that leads to Jesus, His righteousness and His holiness! A people whose hearts are towards God and not towards an agenda; towards truth and not a lie. It is time to set the tone and be the example, not just follow an example and accept a tone.  God is wondering where His Children are, do you have an answer? It is past Ten does your daddy know where you are?
