Putting The Man In Control…
Habakkuk 3:19 (Amplified Bible)
19The Lord God is my Strength, my personal bravery, and my invincible army; He makes my feet like hinds' feet and will make me to walk [not to stand still in terror, but to walk] and make [spiritual] progress upon my high places [of trouble, suffering, or responsibility]! For the Chief Musician; with my stringed instruments.
My God daughter and I had been e-mailing yesterday morning, when she realized that at 9:00am that the devotional had not been posted. I was explaining to her that I was just exhausted. My brother, who had gone to the hospital a few weeks back, was still in so we have been spending time with him, this is the end of the semester for school so studying, papers and a long laundry list of other things had been going on in my life. I had woken up to the joints in my hands hurting and just feeling that I had been hit by a MAC truck. So my plan for yesterday was to do a few necessary tasks and to spend the remainder of the day resting and reading this week’s assignment. But unbeknown to me, I would receive a phone call from my brother that surgery number three in a little less than three weeks was about to take place. My mind went all the way to the left and a range of emotions kicked in, I knew my body was sending me some signs, but I knew my job was not to get tired, fall apart or even to focus on me in this moment. I e-mailed my God baby to tell her, what was going on and she e-mailed me this words back, “God is up to something. Physical bodies going have to lean on spirit man. You can do it with Christ. I love you.” OMG…what a word, what a revelation, it wasn’t for me to do it, but to submit this temple to Him, so that He could give me the abilities I so desperately needed.
All too often we are in situations and circumstances that we are ill equipped to handle. It may be because we lack the ability, strength, time, or resources. We are pushed to what our human limits say we are capable of, and we feel as if we need a break, or we are about to shut down. For most of us in this situation there is one major thing we have not considered, which is relying on the “man” allowing God the place of control and ability in our lives. We have neglected to see God as the true source of all that we really need and so we find ourselves exhausted, spent, frustrated, broke down and overwrought. If in those moments we can really see that God is the strength and the source of our lives, we would be better equipped for whatever happens. We would know that in Christ we have no limits, no boundaries, because He can make the tiredness go away and give us strength for the journey. He can cause the fear to be subdued and remind us all we need is faith the size of a grain of a mustard seed. He will inspire us to see that our source of income, and finances, is nothing in comparison to His resources. Really when we see as God said to Moses, “I am that I am, He is the ALL in all the time. He is the EVERY in every time. He is the able in the ability. He is all that we need Him to be in most cases He is just waiting for us to realize that we need Him in that way.
For many of you reading this you are right where I was yesterday, spent, exhausted, feeling as if you cannot take another step. Well you are right. Not in your own strength, not in your own power. Put God in the place of control and lean and depend on Him to see you through. Why you may ask, because He is the one that is well equipped for the jobs, that we aren’t. He is the limitless resource and the tireless Father. He never sleeps nor slumbers, He can get the job done…He goes to work!
