Irreplaceable…
Isaiah 46:8-10 (Amplified Bible)
8[Earnestly] remember this, be ashamed and own yourselves guilty; bring it again to mind and lay it to heart, O you rebels! 9[Earnestly] remember the former things, [which I did] of old; for I am God, and there is no one else; I am God, and there is none like Me, 10Declaring the end and the result from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all My pleasure and purpose,
Tonight my daughter made dinner and as she cooks she has to have her music. So normally her IPOD is plugged into the computer and her music, no matter what the genre permeates through the speakers for all to hear, tonight was no exception. Some of the songs I sing along with her if I am familiar, with the song. Tonight, the last song before the IPOD was silenced for the night to all of our tired and almost bleeding ears, was Beyonce’s “Irreplaceable.” I normally just sing the hook, “you must not know ‘bout me, you must not know ‘bout me, I can have another you in a minute. A matter fact he’ll be here in a minute.” But tonight I listened to the words and she was talking about a man that took her for granted and he cheated on her and disregarded her and got caught. As the hook came around again it dawned on, this is us.
We tip around on God because we do not value him, we do not regard him and we do not see Him for who He truly is…Irreplaceable! What if God treated us like she treated her boyfriend in this song? What if God packed us up and put us out, made us give back everything He gave and dismissed us as we so often dismiss Him? Whew, now that is a thought. We often forget that God is all powerful, all knowing, and ever present. He can forget to think of us and we would cease to exist. He is the one that created heaven and earth and you and I too. He is the first and last and everything in between, and yet we often treat Him as if He is the last thing on our mind and in our hearts. We place Him at the bottom of our list, if on our list at all. Our life becomes our own instead of the one that God designed and asked us to live out to advance the Kingdom and for His glory. We look at the world and all that is in it to include people God entrust us with as ours to do with what we want, instead of seeing the God in them and the value that God has for them.
You see God is Irreplaceable because of what He can do, but He should also be Irreplaceable because of who He is to us. He should be the very air that we breathe and the song that we sing. He should be who our heart beats for and who we live to please. He should be who we adore, and who we recognize for all He is, just by being who He is. For truly He is God and God alone and besides Him there is NO OTHER, for He is Irreplaceable!
