Words Of Encouragement To Start The Day (Tuesday 06/22/10)

Precious…

Proverbs 27:1 (Amplified Bible)

1DO NOT boast of [yourself and] tomorrow, for you know not what a day may bring forth.

All too often we place so much emphasis on the amount of time we have to do things and all the plans we have for the future. Every time a day like today comes around it causes me to reflect upon my life and what about today. It makes me think of all I appreciate and the love that I have in my life that I am so thankful for…Today we received news that someone that we had been praying for that was in their twenties and newly married (only 4 months ago) had passed away. He had his whole life ahead of him, or at least that is what his age, career, and the dynamics and dimensions of his life said. But we really do not know what our tomorrows will bring. Having faith in God and being obedient to His will yes will yield us certain promises of God, but we have no idea, what will be in a second, a moment, an hour, a day, a week, a month, or a year from now. But our dependence on God will dictate how we look at each day and each individual that is in our lives.

All too often we ignore our todays to set sights on our tomorrows. We forget about those who are right in front of us, who have supported us and had our backs to move on to the next one, to what we see the future could be. We forget to ask God what is it that He would require of us today, and how can we serve Him today. Instead we are often trying to make a name for ourselves in the kingdom that will secure our tomorrows. Someone I love dearly always ask the question, are we living the word today. Their soul mission in life is to live the word each day that they are alive. To observe that needs around them and extend a hand to help and to try to be a blessing. To see that beauty of what God has afforded them “today.” How many of us take our todays for granted? We all probably do at one time or another. My grandmother use to say to us, “Give me my flowers while I can still yet smell them.” Simply stated let me enjoy today, let me enjoy the fragrance of Gods workmanship and the beauty of his handiwork today while I am yet alive.

Today, let us love like there is no tomorrow. Let us forgive as if our life depended upon it. Let our kindness be exhibited as if this is our last day to do so. Let us worship God as if this is our last opportunity to do so… Let us take time today as if the time in this day was all that we had left to give. Let us see the majesty and splendor of our God today as if it was the first and the last time that we would behold it and have an opportunity to appreciate it. Let us view today as the “Precious, rare and unique jewel that it is, because today is God’s gift to us, but what we do with it and what we make of it is our gift to God! MAKE IT SOMETHING BEAUTIFUL!
