Words Of Encouragement To Start The Day ( Thursday 06/17/10)

Hide Me, In Your Glory…

John 16:13-15 (Amplified Bible)

13But when He, the Spirit of Truth (the Truth-giving Spirit) comes, He will guide you into all the Truth (the whole, full Truth). For He will not speak His own message [on His own authority]; but He will tell whatever He hears [from the Father; He will give the message that has been given to Him], and He will announce and declare to you the things that are to come [that will happen in the future]. 14He will honor and glorify Me, because He will take of (receive, draw upon) what is Mine and will reveal (declare, disclose, transmit) it to you. 15Everything that the Father has is Mine. That is what I meant when I said that He [the Spirit] will take the things that are Mine and will reveal (declare, disclose, transmit) it to you.

One of the most valuable lessons I learned while serving in the Air Force was if you take care of your troops they will take care of you. There were many days when I out ranked people and yet chose to let them go home and stay and do the work, necessary to get the job done. I got my hands dirty and worked as hard as the next person, rank and time in service aside. I made it a practice to recognize birthdays and special occasions, I often had dinners or game nights at my house for all to share in. It became a practice of mine after attending leadership school to ensure that those who were a part of the team in which I supervised or was a more senior ranking knew I appreciated them and that I valued them. This has carried over into my life in the work place even as a civilian. I try to let people know ( no matter where I fall in the hierarchy) that they are valued and are an integral part of a team that would not function quite as well if they didn’t do what they do. In turn, these individuals supported me in and out of the work place and they pointed to me when things went right and we all stood together when things didn’t go as well as we all hoped.

This is so often a lesson that we miss. We want all the credit for things, even when it is not ours to gain. Even when, if God didn’t move it would not have gotten done, we still stand and say, “I” did. God takes care of us so well, but yet instead of us taking care of Him as well and wanting to hide behind His Glory, we want Him to hide in the shadow of our glory. We want Him to take a back seat while we gain all of the accolades related to a situation and circumstance, even though we don’t want to admit that we could have never done what He did. We forget God will never share His glory. We forget that we are only the vessel, that He is using, and it is ONLY by grace that we have been chosen to be utilized for that particular task. We often get it twisted, thinking that we have done something to earn, our place, or earn the honor of being tasked and asked to do certain things. We forget that it is ALL Kingdom work, for the Kingdom’s glory. It is not a flesh thing, but it’s a GOD thing!

It is long overdue that we realize that without God we are nothing. We need to understand that when our prayers are answered it is God inspiring us, pushing us to pray, and answering the prayers. When we touch someone’s life, we need to realize that it really is not us that is doing that touching for we are only an extension of God’s hand here in the earth, He is the one quickening a life and changing a heart. That when we are blessing people that it is not us that is doing the blessing, but it is the resources that God allows us to steward that is blessing them. It is time to realize really where ALL the glory belongs, because truly it is not about “US,” it is about Jesus! It is time to get hidden, and let God receive the Glory that He so richly deserves!
