Today’s Devotional Written By A Devoted Soul: Mrs. Tracy A. Dixon ( the very Love of Shane’s Life)…
Identity Theft….with a Kingdom Twist
Ephesians 5:1-2
1 Imitate God, therefore, in everything you do, because you are his dear children. 2 Live a life filled with love, following the example of Christ. He loved us[a] and offered himself as a sacrifice for us, a pleasing aroma to God.
Yesterday afternoon Shane’s wallet was stolen. It had his military id, driver’s license, gift cards, credit cards, and much more in it. I was so upset and scared that it started to affect my pregnancy. My stomach got really tight and I couldn’t breathe. The million thoughts that began to run through my mind: they have our address, Shane is leaving in two weeks and I’ll be alone, pregnant and with Jaida, are these criminals or just some teenagers being stupid. Then the thoughts turned into anger because in a blink of an eye, somebody has access to everything our name is on, all of our accounts are joint since before the day we became one.
So I got home and forced myself to breathe until I fell asleep. I laid in my recliner and told God, I must be missing something. Lisa and I joke that “there must be a blog” somewhere in the midst of all of this craziness when we have rough days. So then God showed me this scenario in the life of the Christian. When we accept Christ into our lives we are to become His imitators. We are supposed to walk as Christ did, talk as Christ did and live as God’s word instructs us to. We in our own selves don’t have access to the Father, but when we say “in Jesus name”, He identifies with that and moves on our situation. Because the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit all are one, we then have full access to the power, protection and promises from all three.
In just one moment on Calvary, Jesus defeated everything on Earth and in Hell. Once we make our number one purpose in life to become like Christ, there is no weapon that can harm us. Jesus is the highest security clearance we could ever have. When you are standing at Heaven’s door in need of healing, don’t flash your id card, use the blood. When you need God to touch your home, children or marriage, don’t punch in your security card, use the blood. The Bible says that we are to become new creations in CHRIST JESUS, so who are people seeing when they look at you. Take it a compliment when friends, family and foe tell you……………”I barely recognize you anymore, you sure have changed”. Just smile and know that you are beginning to take on the identity of Christ.
