Words Of Encouragement To Start The Day (Wednesday 06/15/2011)

He Makes It Worth The Trip…

Genesis 12:1-4 Amplified Bible (AMP)
1NOW [in Haran] the Lord said to Abram, Go for yourself [for your own advantage] away from your country, from your relatives and your father's house, to the land that I will show you. 2And I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you [with abundant increase of favors] and make your name famous and distinguished, and you will be a blessing [dispensing good to others]. 3And I will bless those who bless you [who confer prosperity or happiness upon you] and curse him who curses or uses insolent language toward you; in you will all the families and kindred of the earth be blessed [and by you they will bless themselves]. 4So Abram departed, as the Lord had directed him; and Lot [his nephew] went with him. Abram was seventy-five years old when he left Haran.

Have you ever been in a place where God was telling you to go and it seemed as if that particular move made no sense in that moment because of things going on around you?  This has happened to me.  God had ordained a trip I was to go on, but in the days before the trip, it seemed as if all hell broke loose and everything that could go wrong did.  Nothing and I mean nothing was going right and I was stressed out, even praying and saying God I know what you said, but don’t you see what is going on down here?  I went to my mother and told her my intent was just to stay home and not go.  Home was a place of comfort and a place of safety, I know home and I can do home well. In that moment my mom said, “Lisa, don’t be in disobedience you better go, you know what God said and you will miss something if you don’t go;” she closed her statement with “see what will happen if you don’t go?”  I had heard that tone in her voice and that look in her eyes, so in my frustration and misunderstanding, I packed my bags and went. My God was I glad I went. It was a time of ministry, it was a time of refreshing, it was a time where I was able to get information and many business agreements and relationships established and then God threw in the bonus and blessed me with something extraordinary and special in the personal side of my life, He gave me a divine connection.  I don’t want to even imagine what would have been if I wouldn’t have gone.
Our journey and walk with God is not always going to be one we understand.  But the key to it is when we don’t understand what is going on around us, we need to stay in the press and stay focused on what God told us to do, in the manner in which He told us to do it.  You see staying put or staying in the posture and position we have been does not challenge our faith, it doesn’t make us stretch that much further and it doesn’t cause us to grow in obedience and faith.  Some journeys are necessary, because God can never do what He needs to do in our environment.  You see just like with me and home, we do that environment all too well…We do not need God to navigate certain environments; we could do it with our eyes closed.  I have learned what we are capable of is not God it is us; it is when God gives us instruction that make little to no sense to us and we understand to accomplish it we will have to totally rely and depend on God to get it and to see this portion or the entirety of the journey through, then that is God alone! It is in those times when logic does not speak to the situation that God can bring us to a place of blessing and a place of the promise if we are paying close attention and moving as He instructs.
Today as God is speaking and giving instruction, or you are communing with Him don’t turn a death ear to what He is saying to you about your journey.  Many of us have gotten way too comfortable and we are navigating our space way too well without God, and He is desirous of bringing us into a place, an arena that only He can do, only He can carry us to and only He can sustain us in.  Even though this journey and this place may challenge our flesh it is always worth the journey.  It may challenge our faith, but it is always worth the expense.  It may challenge our thinking but it is worth the change of venue, because when God does a thing He does it well. He will establish us in a way that makes His name great and allows people to see that it is He that lives in us that has provided for us, but in addition it blesses us as well, and places us in a dwelling we have never been to, encountered or thought we could obtain.  No matter what when God speaks hold fast to the courage of your conviction and GO, there is great and precious promise in store!
