Today’s Devotional Written By A Young Woman Who Is Rattling Cages And Turning Over Tables In The Temple: Mrs. Tracy Dixon
Wait on Him…It’s not Easy,
but it’s Worth It
Isaiah 40:31 New Living Translation (NLT)
31 But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint.
Sometimes the hardest thing about walking with God is waiting on His timing. We always say He’s an on time God, but sometimes it can feel like God’s watch is broken or that He hit snooze a few times when your alarm went off. Well, I’m learning that there is a purpose for the wait. God is trying to prepare us for the blessing. If God answered us when we wanted Him too, we would stop chasing after Him, needing Him, and seeking Him. If God gave us everything the moment we asked, we would never have time to learn lessons, develop our faith, or gain confidence in knowing that God is truly in control.
Shane and I recently had a situation that required us to need the resources of eight other people to attend a conference at a heavily discounted rate. Time passed and situations kept coming up that forced funds to be used on both sides of the table. Deadlines came and passed. We got to that last week and financially it wasn’t going to happen. I began to worry and get upset with God. I was “waiting” and “trusting” in Him to move and He didn’t. He didn’t make a way and I was only trying to be loyal to the other eight. Well, when God moves He doesn’t need our permission, opinion or advice: Shane and I will be attending the conference for free!! I’m so thankful that God didn’t let our doubt demons stop Him for showing out.
Doubt demons will play on the mind and heart of the most dedicated Christian when put in the right situation. I have a very dear friend of mine who has been mistreated, undervalued and abused by her significant others her entire dating/married life. She has a heart of gold and truly is a one in a million kind of diamond. The treatment she has received and the mistakes she made in her past, caused her to doubt that she deserved to be loved by a man, other than God. I watched her “talk” to the wrong kind of man for years. I watched her stay celibate at all cost, even when I couldn’t. I watched her compromise her standards, never her values, to justify that certain men were being sent from God. I told her when I met Shane, “If my disobedient self has been blessed with such a great kingdom man, I can only imagine the man God is going to send to you”. I guess she didn’t hear me though, lol, cause still came Mr. wrong after Mr. wrong. Well, finally God said it’s time for me to do what I do, how I do it. He sent her someone that pushed her into her deliverance, loves her past her doubt, and protects her delicate heart. It’s amazing to watch his love melt away her walls and bring the smile back to her spirit when it comes to relationship on Earth.
The point is that settling will cause you to miss on getting a kingdom blessing you won’t be able to put into words. Moving too fast can cause you to waste time, resources, and energy for nothing. Let God be God. If you trust Him, prove it. He is not going to move according to our thinking, because then we might think it’s something we did in and of ourselves. There is nobody greater than God, how long can you wait for Him to prove it to you!! Don’t give in, just look up.
