Where You At?
Isaiah 64:10-12 (New Living Translation)
10 Your holy cities are destroyed. Zion is a wilderness; yes, Jerusalem is a desolate ruin. 11 The holy and beautiful Temple where our ancestors praised you has been burned down, and all the things of beauty are destroyed. 12 After all this, Lord, must you still refuse to help us? Will you continue to be silent and punish us?
Today’s message in the music comes from Jennifer Hudson’s song “Where You At”. The song is about the promises of a man made in the sunny times, but the second the storms and clouds rolled in, he was nowhere to be found. There’s a part in the song that says: Now you said you go to church. Stop slanging, find a real job, and go to work. And you say you stay out of the streets. And spend more time with me. Where you at? Oh, where you at? Oh,where you at? Boy you say would be here for me.
When this song comes on, Jaida will say that this is her song, and we sing like we are auditioning for American Idol. Now, for me I just love the beat and rhythm of the song, but it wasn’t until I actually started to learn the words that God began to speak . He said just as clear as Jaida, this is My song. He has volumes of books in Heaven with all of our empty promises. “Lord if you bless me this time, I’ll serve you”. He moves then you give Him two good Sundays and a Bible Study before you’re too tired to worship in the house of the Lord. “Lord, if you get me this job, I’ll pay my tithes”. You get the job and a promotion, sow a seed, bless a co-worker, and then decide ten percent is really a bit much so you keep “your” money. “Lord, if you heal my body, I won’t fornicate no more”. God works a miracle on your body, that has the greatest of doctors speechless, and it’s less than three months before you’re laid up with someone else. “Lord, Lord, Lord, I promise”. Sometimes we make promises to God, and we truly have the desire to fulfill our end of the bargain, but then there are times when we know it’s nothing more than lip service.
The crazy thing of it all, is that God already knows the promises we make that are empty, yet He still moves on our behalf. We already didn’t deserve Calvary, but He sent His son anyway. So what an insult to the Father, that when He needs us, it requires a search party in Heaven to find us. He can’t seem to pick up the phone and call a true Christian in this society that celebrates everything against His word, homosexuality, adultery, murder, and so much more that’s an abomination. He is looking down from Heaven and just trying to a find a few good soldiers to spare a neighborhood, a city, a state, a country, but “where you at”? He is looking for a few good men/women He can trust , but He is asking “where you at”? He is looking for a few faithful children, who will love and serve Him through the stormy days more so than on the sunny ones, but again He asks “where you at”?
Today come out of hiding and hypocrisy. Be for God, or leave the kingdom alone. It’s better to be a non-believer than an undependable believer. God is speaking through “acts of God” right now, and He is getting louder and louder. If enough of us would live the life to be able to say “Here I am Lord”, then maybe we can save our nation one street at a time………………..so real “Christians” after God’s own heart………………. “WHERE YOU AT”?
