Today’s Devotional Written By the Ever So Caring: Mrs. Tracy A. Dixon ( Shane’s Bride)
Leave My Past Behind Me
Philippians 3:13 (New Living Translation)
13 No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it,[a] but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead
Today’s message in the music comes from the title of Chris Brown’s song “Look At Me NOW”. Last week I was faced with a situation that was designed to pull me back into my old habits. It was a very clever and seductive tactic to pull me back into a place of confrontation, drama and manipulation but I praise God for a kingdom husband and a Godmother to remind me to focus on my NOW character and stay focused.
See some of us are finding it very difficult to move forward because we are surrounding ourselves with people who only knew us when we were in sin. We are trying to change, but the people we continue to let speak into our lives don’t want to see us grow or prosper. We are asking God to take us higher, but we won’t cut off the people, things, and situations that are trying to keep us rooted in our yesterdays. I love the anthem of “look at me NOW”. Stop judging me and measuring me off of where I use to be. Take me for who I am right now. Throw out the memories and the mistakes I made and help me press towards my destiny.
Jesus died on the cross and that sacrifice will never be forgotten or taken lightly, but isn’t it time to celebrate that He got back up. Why do we keep taking Him back to Calvary, and leaving Him there. His greatest testimony was that He got back up. He defeated the devil, distractions, and death so that we can do the same thing. It doesn’t matter what mama or papa did or didn’t do. It doesn’t matter how much money you do or don’t have. It doesn’t matter how much you drank, smoke, cussed, lied, fornicated or cheated. If you are brave enough to step out and trust God, He is bad enough to change your entire circumstance. Begin to speak LIFE over yourself. Get rid of the negative people and words in your circle. Stop letting people talk you out of the progress in God you’ve made and keep pressing. It’s not about where you’ve been, but where you’re going. So the next time a hater tries to bring up your past; look them in the eye and tell them, “LOOK AT ME NOW”.
