Today’s Devotional Written By An Obedient Warrior Storming The Gate Who Is Serious: Mrs. Tracy A. Dixon (Shane’s Wife)
Are You Serious?
Proverbs 18:21 (New Living Translation)
21 The tongue can bring death or life; those who love to talk will reap the consequences
This morning God proved to me just how serious this Christian thing is, and how powerful our words truly are. On Mothers Day, Shane dropped his new and very expensive cell phone in a cup of orange juice. We did all the things we had heard to do. We dried it, blew air in it, and soaked it in rice when we got home. An hour or so later, nothing. It wouldn't turn
on or even charge when plugged in. A day goes by and still nothing, we've decided that the cell is dead and it’s not coming back. So yesterday he returns to the store to pay the $100 deductible and order a new phone, but the man who sold us the phone was not there, and the guy who was there said it was something Shane needed to do online.
So last night I told him to wait it out one day, and that we would try to get a hold of our Verizon representative today. This morning as I woke for prayer and then headed to get ready for work. Shane's phone was oddly sitting on top of the couch. I picked it up and said in Jesus name with a laugh. Took a shower and thought nothing of it still not turning on because of course, I was only playing around. Then God spoke as clear as clear could be, and said now plug it in. When I got out of the shower, to amuse God I plugged it in. Then to amuse me, He powered it up. So I called my phone to check the sound and everything was working
like brand new. I stood there for a moment amazed by His awesomeness and
His sense of humor.
See, the Bible says that there is power in the name of Jesus and there is no if, and or but behind it. When you call on Jesus you are speaking life, wholeness and change into the atmosphere, the situation and the circumstance. I truly understand this day that life and death is in the power of our tongues. So before you say "you hope somebody drop dead",
"they make you sick", or "a situation is killing you", think before you speak. What you may think is just a joke, God may make your reality. As Shane says when something crazy happens or I tell him something off the wall, ARE YOU SERIOUS?....................... either way, God is!!
