Words Of Encouragement To Start The Day (Tuesday 05/10/2011)

Who Is Your Everything…

1 Corinthians 11:11-12 (New International Version, ©2011)
11 Nevertheless, in the Lord woman is not independent of man, nor is man independent of woman. 12 For as woman came from man, so also man is born of woman. But everything comes from God.

Ephesians 1:21-23 (New International Version, ©2011)

21 far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every name that is invoked, not only in the present age but also in the one to come. 22 And God placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be head over everything for the church, 23 which is his body, the fullness of him who fills everything in every way.
Over the past weeks, I have not been able to attend my church for Sunday service, I have been at other churches, and at Sorority events and then my mom was not well one week, although my routine of going to church has been interrupted, nothing has interrupted my conversations with God and the fact that we hang out and talk all during the course of my days and nights too…Nothing has taken me from putting on my music and praising and worshipping…Nothing has taken me from meditating on the goodness of my God and the beauty of the gifts that He has bestowed upon me.  I had to sit this morning and ask myself why, because I have come to know that God really is my EVERYTHING…
It is not the movement of man that dictates my happiness, but God’s movement in and out of my circumstances and situations, that do.  My fellowship and relationship with God is like the air that I breathe, it is a necessity.  Many of us claim that people are our everything, we say they mean everything to us, but yet we disregard them, violate trust commitments and covenants.  We become unavailable when things go wrong and we are quick to get offended when truth is brought to the forefront.  We want what we want, but we will often neglect giving what we need to.  When something or someone is your everything, they are a consideration and they are a factor in everything that we do.  When God becomes our everything we are not trying to override Him, to do it another way, because when it gets right down to it, we know we need Him, we know that our existence without Him, would be less than a beautiful thing. When we understand that everything means that this our Supreme Headship can change our story for His Glory and He is our source, our Health, our Wealth, our Destiny and ourPurpose we then can truly claim God as our everything.  When He becomes Lord and King, Master and Savior, the very breath we breathe and the thing that nourishes us no matter where we are, He has become everything, He has become our all.
Many of us are saying God is our everything, but we are treating Him as if He is little to nothing or nothing at all.  We don’t consider Him when we do, come, go or speak, or in our treatment of others, and our treatment of this temple that He is supposed to reside in.  When we understand that God has all power in His hands and all He needs to do is speak a word to change us, we will, yield to Him being everything and know that it is He alone who deserves the glory and the honor and that we in and of ourselves can do nothing, without His glorious and wondrous love and the grace that he has bestowed upon us in the way of our gifting’s and talents, our strengths and endeavors.  Truly without our everything we would come to nothing and some of us have and are because we think that people and things are our everything; we have even twisted it into a place of belief that it is us who is our everything, but in reality it is God.  You do remember Him the maker of Heaven and Earth the one who with just a word established light and separated light from dark.  You know the one that parted the Red Seas, that saved three Hebrew boys from the fiery furnace, the one who saved Daniel from the Lion’s den, the one who delivered Saul into David’s hands a few times, the one gave Ruth her Boaz, the one who made Esther a queen in order to save a people, the one who took Joseph from being a sheep herder to Pharaoh’s right hand man, the one who took a liar and made Him a people.  The one who took a barren woman and in her nineties gave her a son, not just any son but a legacy.  The one who took a virgin girl impregnated her and caused her to become the caretaker of the plan of salvation.  You know that God, the one that is in your past and stands in your present and at the same time is in your future, yes Him!
