In ALL Things Give Thanks
1 Thessalonians 5:18 (Amplified Bible)
18Thank [God] in everything [no matter what the circumstances may be, be thankful and give thanks], for this is the will of God for you [who are] in Christ Jesus [the Revealer and Mediator of that will].
The past few weeks I’ve grown to a place in getting to know God. Not the God of clichés but the real McCoy. He is showing me what it really means to praise Him in ALL things; not just the good things. As I read over post on my Facebook wall, it’s sad to see how selfish this nation has truly become. Its disheartening to see that people only blow God up when He does something good in their lives, and then their other posts are filled with me, my , mines and complaints. Its amazing to me that within a matter of minutes posts go from how great God is, hatred or ungratefulness. Its mind blowing that at 7am a post will say that all things are possible with God, and by 10am it’s filled with doubt, worry and unbelief.
When did God become the quick fix; the right now answer? The come how and when I want you to, or just don’t come at all? When did we forget that in ALL things He is God and He doesn’t have to bless us with another thing? Last week after years of paying a company to come out and treat our home, we found out from a third party, that under Jaida’s room there was white rot, mold and mildew. We learned that spiders had been breeding under my house, despite the paid for spraying we have done monthly. As the men continued to run down the things on the list I didn’t panic or fear. The price quoted was close to $1000 less than what the company was going to, and it covered the one thing they were going to fix, plus nine more. So I gave thanks and praise to God, white rot and all. Everything was going to plan and then Shane calls last night to say that the pipes under the house have never been connected, so EVERY time we do the dishes the water just runs under the house. Again, I thanked God, because to think of the amount of water that’s been running under our house for YEARS, and we don’t have one termite………. that’s all God.
So my point is that although on the surface it seemed the report was bad, I saw the God in it all. I saw that although Jaida has had a rough cough off and on throughout the years, she didn’t get fatally ill as she could have. I saw that although the environment was perfect for termites to manifest in, God didn’t let them in. I saw that although it cost a few thousand dollars to fix, God made it possible for us to pay for it in cash. Then the icing on the cake; I was bragging on how great God was in the midst of my home “falling apart” and just has I hit send on the email, I got a text from Shane. His original estimate to get His car fixed had dropped from $300 to $135. I had to say do it God. He may not come how we want, but He is always on time. I think we might be the one holding up our blessings, because we focus on the problem instead of taking them to the problem solver. Praise Him for the problem and you will earn the right to Praise Him for the provision!!!
