Your Cross Belongs To Me, And My Heart Belongs To You!
Luke 14:26-27 (Amplified Bible)
26If anyone comes to Me and does not hate his [own] father and mother [in the sense of indifference to or relative disregard for them in comparison with his attitude toward God] and [likewise] his wife and children and brothers and sisters--[yes] and even his own life also--he cannot be My disciple. 27Whoever does not persevere and carry his own cross and come after (follow) Me cannot be My disciple.
People that are in my inner circle know I take some things very seriously and those things are commitment, honesty, love and relationship, no matter what type of relationship. I believe in ride or die, I believe being committed and in covenant with the people that I call friend and family; I am very tolerant and forgiving but when one these principles is violated after I have been in someone’s corner I will forgive and I may even give you another chance, but my tolerance will decrease for the crazy, or depending on the infraction and how many times it has been done, I will forgive you, but feed you with a long handle spoon, I will reevaluate who you are to me , and adjust or realign you accordingly. I believe in baring the weight of my relationships and I believe those in relationship with me should do the same…If I can carry you then I should have your heart and you should be considering my best interest, as I would do for you.
Jesus went to the cross for us. He carried us, before we even knew we needed to be carried, and God loved us before the foundation of the world, and yet and still many of us do not feel like we owe our relationship with God much outside of going to church on Sunday, singing in the choir or serving on the usher board. We don’t want to have to live a life that exemplifies Christ, because that would mean we would have to become the sacrifice and that we would have to Love God enough to die to self to let Him become the element that shines through us brighter than who we think we are. It should be that our heart would be towards God as a person’s heart is towards one they loved so much that they would give their life for and share every burden and cause that they stood for. You see relationship is costly, and for it to be done right and in a way that we are identified as one with the one we are in relationship with. How can we say we love God, and Jesus through the vehicle of the Holy Spirit but yet we don’t take up their cause, the character and carry their name in us and exhibit their heart and purpose? How can we be in relationship and not give of ourselves wholly, giving our heart as an offering of our commitment?
If we love God, we will carry Him. If we love the Lord He will have our heart and we will have His. If we love God where is our sacrifice? Where is our commitment? Where is our obedience? Where are we as it refers to this relationship, where do we stand? Can anyone tell that we are Christ’s and that He is ours? Have we chosen to take up His cross? Have we chosen yet to surrender our heart and life to the act of loving and the relationship that we claim to have with God? If the not the Bible reminds us that God has set before us life and death and we should choose life. We should choose God and choose to be sold out and totally committed to God in not just words but in deeds, in loving and in life!
