Plagiarist Among Us
Isaiah 42:8 (New Living Translation)
8 “I am the Lord; that is my name! I will not give my glory to anyone else,
nor share my praise with carved idols.
nor share my praise with carved idols.
According to the Merriam-Webster Online Dictionary, to "plagiarize" means
- to steal and pass off (the ideas or words of another) as one's own
- to use (another's production) without crediting the source
- to commit literary theft
- to present as new and original an idea or product derived from an existing source.
In other words, plagiarism is an act of fraud. It involves both stealing someone else's work and lying about it afterward.
Whew, is all I could say when God spoke this blog to me. Monday morning was a day of many news headlines about the events of what happened to a known terrorist; some were of praise and some were of judgment. Some people felt that people were making it President Obama’s victory and not an American or military victory. Others shouted in victory that our current President was able to do what the former one could not. All the headlines agreed that it was a good thing “we got ‘em” but who was to get the credit?
Then there was a post that said: only in America do we fight over the credit, Osama didn’t fly the plane that day, he simply gave the order and his people praised him and gladly let him take all the credit. Then God spoke and said to me, only in the Kingdom do Christians fight over the credit, Allah doesn’t give life, have life, speak or move but his followers breathe, kill, die for him, and gladly let him take all the credit. Whew again God. Why do we love to proclaim that we did this for God, or we did that for the kingdom? Why do we feel we deserve the credit for anything we have, make or receive? God is the giver of all things, the promoter of all jobs, the healer of all illnesses, and if we continue to plagiarize His works, He is gonna show us how bad we really are by ourselves-- -without His grace, mercy and goodness.
Today make a conscience effort to give God all the glory that is due to Him. Don’t be a kingdom criminal and have to live a life always running and hiding from God the judge. Instead tell the truth and shame the devil; everything I am, everything I have, and everything I will receive is not because of anything I’ve done in my own power, any degree I’ve acquired or any amount of money I’ve made………………..all praise and honor belongs to the one true living God, Jehovah.
