Words Of Encouragement (Monday 08/01/2011)

Come As You Are………….
2 Corinthians 5:17 New Living Translation (NLT)
17 This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!

Today’s message in the music comes from a verse in 2Pac’s song “Changes” that says: We gotta make a change. It's time for us as a people to start makin' some changes. Let's change the way we eat, let's change the way we live, and let's change the way we treat each other. You see the old way wasn't working so it's on us to do what we gotta do, to survive.

I’m always amazed at how many non-believers and part time Christians say that Christians are so judgmental. I’m always amused at how many quote, Jesus says come as you are when you speak about behaviors that grieve the Holy Spirit. I have no doubt in my mind, that Jesus doesn’t expect us to wake up the day after we accept Him into our lives, a completely changed person. However, I doubt that a year later, He expects us to still be the same.

I wonder if the people who lean and depend on the two quotes above, know that there is a scripture that says we are to become NEW creations in Christ Jesus. If you club, fornicate, drink, cus, lie, steal, cheat, gossip, over eat, envy others, and back stab as much as you did before Christ, where is your growth? Where is your progress that shows God, not man, that He is truly working on the inside of you? When you really begin working on your relationship with the Father, you will have to let some things and some people go because sin can’t dwell where He is.

I like that the song says change what we eat, how we live, and how we treat each other. We need to be feeding our spirit MORE than our flesh because the weapons of our warfare are spiritual not natural. We need to live for God and not for what God can do for us. We need to confront each other in love and receive in the same spirit. If the way we were living was working for us, we would have no need or desire for His salvation. But the moment you step out and say, God I need you, be ready to do what is needed to please Him. Salvation is not a one-time decision, it’s a lifestyle change. So do you leave His presence the same way you came in, or do you leave delivered, set free and changed for His glory?
