By The Power Vested In Me!
Luke 10:19-20 Amplified Bible (AMP)
19Behold! I have given you authority and power to trample upon serpents and scorpions, and [physical and mental strength and ability] over all the power that the enemy [possesses]; and nothing shall in any way harm you. 20Nevertheless, do not rejoice at this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rejoice that your names are enrolled in heaven.
There have been times in my life where I have felt, “what did I do to deserve this, or thought what in the world, or who let all the hounds of hell out on me.” By no means is this a pity party this is just real talk. In these times I would often get so consumed by the circumstance that I would forget how to pray effectively or my prayers would be 911 calls instead of using the power and authority given to me, by God through the process of the crucifixion of my “Elder Brother” Jesus! There were times in my young adult life that I was saved but clueless to what I had going for me, or who I was in Christ at all on any level. My mom and I were discussing my process of salvation and as we spoke we talked about how I lacked the understanding of what to do next after salvation, because the teaching was about fire and brim stone, heaven or hell, but the daily tools and the authority of the believer were not in my foundational teachings. It was only when I got a bit older and went through some things I began to hunger for God in a different way and it wasn’t just out of need of things but out of a need to know Him and know me that I began to gain understanding of my authority and who I was. Admittedly so, I am just in the last five years finding out the in depth story as I dissected the word and put myself in a posture for God to speak and show me the things I have needed all along!
At the end of our wedding ceremony the Pastor said by the authority vested in me, by the state of Virginia as a Minister of the gospel…I didn’t think much of it at the time until this week, The Lord brought that line back in my spirit and mind. Essentially God was saying to me that He has vested power in us. I looked up the word vested and Webster’s dictionary says vested means: “fully and unconditionally guaranteed as a legal right, benefit, or privilege: the vested benefits of the pension plan.” God has given us authority, but it is not just any power and authority it is power and authority first to trample upon scorpions and serpents which are representative of the enemy, but it is not just things that represent or look like the enemy that God gave us power over He also gave us power and authority over ALL of the powers of the enemy, that NOTHING shall harm us. But then God did not just leave the command given through Christ there, He gave us power to do greater works than He accomplished here in the earth. That is something. He also gave us authority and power through His word, to speak into the atmosphere what we need, by the authority of the name of Jesus and protected by the blood of Jesus. For many of us we don’t know that we are praying that God move, but the scriptures say what we bind on earth shall be bound in heaven and what we loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven… We also pray that Jesus or God will come into our situation….It is the Holy Spirit and the Angels of God that do the moving after we recognize our authority and our rights as a believer. God is on the throne, He is the commander, Jesus is at the right hand of the Father making intercession, He is like the one translating the need or what needs to happen. We have to take our place in the chain of command and in the ranks of authority, power and the process.
God gave us power He has given us authority. The cross and the process that Jesus entered into was not just about salvation it was about giving us back authority, dominion and power to do, accomplish and cause things to come and to go. But we will never operate in that authority and power if we don’t know what it is, if we don’t know who we are in Christ and if we don’t know what the Word of God says we are supposed to say, do and operate in. It is our choice to seek to know God, the God head and how it operates and where we fit in. It is up to us to take the authority that is vested to us and use it to obtain a better life; a life that is one where we win and overcome or we can continue to take the beatings and receive things in our life that are not ours and cause us issues and problems that have us living in a place that is beneath God’s ordained design for us! Our life can be by the power vested in us, if we use it!
