Words Of Encouragement To Start The Day (Tuesday 08/23/2011)

By Whose Hand Are You Being Fed?

1 Kings 17:1-6 Amplified Bible (AMP)

1ELIJAH THE Tishbite, of the temporary residents of Gilead, said to Ahab, As the Lord, the God of Israel, lives, before Whom I stand, there shall not be dew or rain these years but according to My word.  2And the word of the Lord came to him, saying, 3Go from here and turn east and hide yourself by the brook Cherith, east of the Jordan. 4You shall drink of the brook, and I have commanded the ravens to feed you there. 5So he did according to the word of the Lord; he went and dwelt by the brook Cherith, east of the Jordan. 6And the ravens brought him bread and flesh in the morning and bread and flesh in the evening, and he drank of the brook.
I remember there was a time in my life that I did not really understand how this God thing worked.  Admittedly I am still learning, growing, maturing and I am still amazed every time God uses me or illuminates His word to me in a way that can be shared with others, or even understood by myself.  I use to think that because I went to work, and got a pay check, that is how I was supplied for. I use to think it was because of my resourcefulness or lack thereof that caused me to have or have not.  But I have come to understand better that God supplies my needs, not man.  I use to be so afraid of man taking something away from me, or telling me that they would leave or that whatever situation I was working in would end.  But I understand that God is in complete control of all that functions in my life, if I allow Him to be.  I use to stress and worry and cry myself to sleep over what I did not have or who left, but I have learned that if I truly trust God He is working it out for my good.
We pray the model pray which includes the words, “Give us this day, our daily bread,” but we do not really understand that we are asking for provision.  We are asking God to feed us.  In those moments we should also be seeing it is God that gives us the ability to be fed, supplied for and taken care of.  I must admit in my life I have been through much, and I have watched people take things from me, and they thought in their doing that they were taking or limiting my ability to get my daily bread, that they were in control somehow of me being fed or taken care of. But you will never guess what happened; as I looked to Jesus, He spoke to my heavenly Father who commanded movement in the earth and my daily bread still came, it may not have been the same, it may not have been what I was looking for, but I was fed, and taken care of, I was supplied for and it was not by the hands of any person, it was because God ordained it to be so!
You see many times we think our success, our ability to provide or have is tied up in a job, a person or even talents or family wealth or legacies, but we need to recognize that it is God that give us the ability not just to get wealth, but maintain it, and to even have bread daily.  When we understand that it does not matter whether we are in the Palace or the Pit that God is providing and taking care of us, people can shoot their best shot to try to ruin us, trip us up, manipulate us and our finances and still God is going to do what is necessary to make sure we are fed.  You see there is never a day that I want to look to a human being to be my source of survival, because people will turn on you (yes even ones in the church claiming salvation), and they will take what they perceive as their resources away, but when you have the source of all things, the provision for all situations in your life, you will always be fed, and He will take care of you and I.  I am not implying that we sit back and do nothing, but I am saying He is more than the world against us, and He has the ability to shut the mouth of the enemy and turn every plot and plan of His to nothing.
Think about this who is feeding you? By whose hands are you being fed?  I recognize every day, that my daily bread comes from God alone!
